WRs Come up Big Against Vandy

Florida's group of wide receivers has been under fire for a good majority of the 2010 season. Critics have said more receivers need to get involved. They have said Florida QB's can't air it out because there is no one to catch passes. Those statements are certainly up for debate but a few Gator receivers had big performances against Vanderbilt.

Frankie Hammond had three catches for 49 yards and one touchdown. His touchdown resulted from a 39-yard catch of a pass thrown by John Brantley. Hammond talked about Jordan Reed's performance and the importance of yards after the catch.

Freshman Solomon Patton has been waiting for his chance. He didn't just get it against Vandy, he capitalized on it. Patton had three catches for 24 yards but his real exciting play resulted in a touchdown. Patton had a 42-yard blocked punt return for a score and showed off some of his lighting speed running into the endzone. Patton talked about what he needs to do to continue to step up. He said he expects to see even more from Florida's offense in future games and puts an emphasis on UF's next matchup against South Carolina.
