Will Hill Heading to the NFL

Will Hill came to Florida before the 2008 season and expected to see immediate playing time at safety. The emergence of Ahmad Black and Major Wright stole much of the playing time, but Hill saw the field and ended the year with a national championship and SEC championship ring. The University of Florida announced on Friday that Hill is now moving on to the next level.

With Saturday's deadline for underclassmen to declare for the NFL Draft, Will Hill has filed his paperwork to be eligible.

“Although I didn't have a chance to Coach Will Hill, we certainly wish him the best of luck in the NFL,” Florida head coach Will Muschamp said. “Like all of players, we hope he understands the value of his education and returns to get his degree.”

Hill was a part of the three-man safety rotation during the 2008 and 2009 seasons, where the Gators lost a combined two games. Hill started 15 games in his Florida career and saw action in 38. He recorded 144 total tackles in three seasons with four interceptions and 1.5 sacks.

Hill was a key part of Urban Meyer's special teams unit. He led the Gators in special teams tackles during two of his three seasons in Gainesville.

The game of Hill's career came this season against Georgia. He recorded two interceptions, half of his career total, with one coming in overtime that was almost returned for a game-ending touchdown. Hill interceptions earlier in the game set up a Trey Burton rushing touchdown. He also intercepted a third Aaron Murray pass on a two-point conversion attempt.
