Florida All Over Chris Walker

Chris Walker will be recruited by everyone

He could be the best player at any position in the entire 2013 class and forward Chris Walker of Bonifay, Florida will no doubt be recruited by everyone before it is all over. The versatile big guy brings skill inside and out to the floor and the Florida Gators would love to see him dress in orange and blue when everything is done.

With the AAU circuit in full swing, Chris Walker is heading to Atlanta this weekend to play for his Atlanta Express team. He plays all three front court positions during the spring and summer.

"I have a big weekend coming up," Walker said Tuesday. "I play for the Atlanta Express. I played for that coach since the 7th grade, so I just figured I should finish up with him." Walker is as good as they get as a sophomore in high school, but he is not one to rest on his laurels.

"It is going good I am trying to put in some work," he said of the off time. "I put in about two hours every day. I try and change it up. I work on my foot work, rebounds, and pushing the ball down the floor. Then I work on the outside game, stuff like that."

Walker talked about his strong suits and then what he needs to work on.

"I am good at blocking shots and rebounds, but offensively I think it is running the floor and beating the defender down the court and I play above the rim," he said about his strengths. "I need to work on my footwork and my strength."

Walker says that Florida, Florida State, Alabama, and Georgia are the first four of many offers to come and is hearing a lot from Kentucky which he says, "I am supposed to be going up there pretty soon."

Of the Gators he talks and texts back and forth with sophomore forward Patric Young and NBA to be forward Chandler Parsons quite a bit.

"I have been to Florida," he said. "I was there about three or four months ago. I like how their campus is and all their players. I talk to Patric Young a lot. He is a nice guy and texts me all the time about how things are going and stuff like that."

Florida has all new assistant coaches and one of them has already been hot on the heels of Walker and made an impression. They like Walker as a physical, yet very athletic power forward.

"I like all of their coaching staff," Walker said. "I have talked to Coach Donovan and Norm Roberts and they were really cool. They talk to me about how I would fit in the program and stuff like that. Some schools are recruiting me at the three and some at the four. Florida is recruiting me at the four.

As for other players around the country that Walker talks to, he is tight with Baylor's Quincy Miller, FSU's Chris Singleton, and former Kentucky Wildcat John Wall.

At 6-9 and 205 pounds, Walker is looking for a program that will use his ability to run the floor to capitalize on his athleticism.

"I want a team that gets up and goes as far as transition basketball," he said. I want a team that will allow me to dribble drive and pick and roll… stuff like that."

He will be flying all over the country playing AAU basketball this summer, B.T. Walker says, "I am trying to fit some in" in regards to showing up on some college campuses this summer.

There is no doubt the Florida Gators would like to see him in Gainesville.
