Martin Transfer Part of Coaching Transition
Chris Martin was a five-star Army All-American

It is inevitable with a coaching change that there will be more attrition on a college football roster than any other time. Therefore, it is no surprise that yet again the Florida Gators are announcing another transfer is imminent. Freshman defensive end Chris Martin has asked for and been granted a release from the Gators. He will likely transfer West to be closer to his home in California.
Florida
head coach
Will Muschamp
released the news on
Chris Martin
today via a release from the Sports Information Department at Florida.
“Chris and his family have indicated that it might be best for him to be closer to home” said Muschamp of Martin. “We wish him nothing but the best of luck.”
Martin isn’t a stranger to transfer as he transferred away from
California
before he ever entered a football season on the Bears’ roster.
Martin is the latest of several transfers since Muschamp has taken the helm. Senior cornerback and All-American Janoris Jenkins was released and juist this week signed with North Alabama. True freshmen running back Mike Blakely and receiver Javares McRoy spent one semester on campus before they both received a transfer to go somewhere else. Freshman five-star receiver Chris Dunkley was also released to transfer somewhere.
Some transfers will be for disciplinary reasons and some are simply not a fit for a new coach and his staff. Martin had his legal issues, but the truth with him probably lies somewhere between the discipline and differences of opinion with the staff.
There will likely be more until Muschamp gets all of the players he recruits to his program, and then the attrition should slow.
