Maddox Ready for Defined Role

There aren't any questions around the role Austin Maddox will play this season. After working up from middle reliever to closer last season, the junior heads into this year with the closer's spot locked down. Maddox will continue to get time at first base during the season, but his role on the mound is set in stone. When the Gators need to end a game, he will be the one with the ball in his hand.

"It's definitely nice to go into the season knowing what's expected from you," Austin Maddox said. "You can't let it change your mentality. You've still got to come to the field every day working hard because there are people knocking on the door to take your spot all the time."
