Demps Adds Weekly Track Award Staff
Posted Apr 3, 2012

After deciding not to pursue a professional football career, Jeff Demps has picked up right where he left off on the track. The senior sprinter was named the SEC Co-Men’s Runner of the Week for his performance at the 85th Annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays over the weekend.

Jeff Demps ran his first race of the outdoor season and captured the men’s 100 meters title with a 10.01. He claimed the title at the event when he ran the fastest all-conditions time in the world this season. Demps currently leads the SEC and the nation in the men’s 100 meters.

It was his sixth career SEC weekly honor and fourth SEC Men’s Runner of the Week award. His 10.01 was Demps’ third-fastest time of his career.

Demps also ran the opening leg of Florida’s men’s 4x100-meter relay. The team currently ranks fifth in the nation and third in the SEC with a time of 39.26.

Florida will host this weekend’s 2012 Pepsi Florida Relays on April 6-7.
