Wide receiver Alvin Bailey (Seffner, Fla./Armwood) had an up and down evening last Friday in their upset loss to Delray Beach (Fla.) American Heritage. He probably wanted to forget about the first half. He fumbled the ball on the quarterback/receiver exchange on an end around and then muffed a punt in the second quarter that eventually led to an American Heritage score.
Bailey picked things up in the second half, scoring on a 13-yard corner route and then a 34-yard post.
On those two plays alone he showed excellent body control, concentration and field awareness on the first score and the ability to separate on the second.
Bailey’s not the biggest receiver at 5-foot-11 and 175-pounds but he’s very quick and has good hands. He finished with five receptions for 75 yards.
Bailey recently committed to the University of Florida. Look for him to play the slot receiver in the Gators offense. He is at his best working the middle of the field and getting the ball in space.
Bailey is a three-star recruit and the No. 71 ranked receiver in the nation.
