Ohio 2014 DT Talks New Offer

Last weekend Daniel Cage's plans to visit a Big Ten program had to wait following an overtime playoff loss. FOXSportsNEXT.com caught up with Cage for the latest recruiting news on one of Ohio's top 2014 prospects.

Last Friday night Daniel Cage and his Cincinnati (Ohio) Winton Woods teammates had their sights set on beating defending Division II State Champion Trotwood (Ohio) Madison before visiting Michigan. Those plans came up short as Winton Woods feel 27-20 in an overtime battle.

"I wasn't able to go up to Michigan as I was in the hospital," said Cage. "I hurt my stomach in the game and it got worse after the game so they took me to the hospital. It turned out to be nothing serious and I'm better now but I was not able to visit Michigan."

At 6-foot-3, 270-pounds, Cage is one name college coaches are keeping an eye on and with early offers from Cincinnati and Illinois more should be coming in the next few months.

"Tennessee has also offered me and a new school starting to recruit me is Alabama," said Cage. "I'm going to West Virginia this weekend for their game against Oklahoma.

"I'm also interest in Notre Dame and many other schools. But I need to get a chance to see what schools have to offer educational wise and football wise."

Cage is also ahead of the curve having already taken his ACT.

"I've taken the ACT but have not received my scores yet," said Cage. "In the classroom I have all A's and B's right now."

After playing one of the toughest schedules in Ohio this past season thoughts of making a run for a state championship were strong.

"We felt from the competition we played this season we could take that into the playoffs and earn a ring," said Cage. "So it is very disappointing to lose so early."
