Florida LB sets January visit

Darren Hambrick is a standout linebacker prospect from Hernando High, and Scout caught up with him to discuss the latest.

Darren Hambrick did a little bit of everything on the field this season. He scored a couple touchdowns as a tight end. He returned kicks. However, the biggest impact he made was at linebacker, where he finished with 49 tackles, seven sacks, and one interception.

At 6-foot-2 and 220 pounds, Hambrick is now focused on recruiting and he talked about it.

"Memphis, Lousiville, Kent State, and Nebraska are talking to me on a regular basis," Hambrick said. "A lot of other schools were but those are the main ones recruiting me now."

Hambrick says there were false rumors going around about his status.

"The internet said I committed to Missouri, but I didn't, that's wrong," he said. "I'm not sure where I'm going yet."

Hambrick plans to use the month of January to figure things out, and it'll start with an official visit to Big 10 country.

"I'm going to visit Nebraska on January 11th," he said. "After that, I'm not sure. I like Nebraska, it seems like a good place."

The talented linebacker isn't ready to name any favorites yet.

"I don't have any favorite schools right now," he said. "I'm looking to find a school where I can be a great student as well as a football player. Academics come first."
