Gators end season in top ten

The finals polls were released early Tuesday morning after Alabama won the national title on Monday night in Miami. Despite the Sugar Bowl loss to Louisville, the Gators ended the 2012 season ranked in the top ten of both major polls.

The Southeastern Conference ended the year with five teams in the top ten of each poll.

Florida came in at No. 9 in the AP Poll and No. 10 in the USA Today Coaches' Poll. The Gators end the season going 3-1 against the top ten teams in the country, also adding wins against the two others SEC teams that finished the season ranked — No. 14/12 LSU and No. 23/20 Vanderbilt.

The top-ten teams on the Florida schedule in 2012 were No. 5/4 Georgia, No. 5/5 Texas A&M, No. 8/7 South Carolina and No. 10/8 Florida State.

Alabama received every first place vote in both polls.
