Two former Gators named NBA All-Stars

Golden State Warriors forward David Lee and Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah were both named to the NBA All-Star game on Thursday night. The game will take place in Houston on February 17.

"It's pretty impressive," Florida head coach Billy Donovan said. "I'm proud of those guys."

It has been a monster season for David Lee, who will serve as the first NBA All-Star from the Golden State Warriors since Latrell Sprewell in 1997. Lee is averaging 19.6 points, 10.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game this season. It's his third year of a six-year, $79.54 million contract.

"David Lee is having just an incredible year," Donovan said. "Sometimes you don't get to follow him a lot just because he's out West with the time change, but he has had more 20-point, 10-rebound games than anybody in the NBA. He's playing well and the team is doing well. I'm happy for him."

Joakim Noah continues to produce at center for the Chicago Bulls. He's averaging 12.2 points, 10.9 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.1 blocks and 1.3 steals per game this season to fill the stat sheet. Noah is three years into a five-year, $60 million contract.

Donovan doesn't expect Lee and Noah to be the only two former Florida players in Houston during All-Star Weekend.

"You'll probably have two guys in the sophomore-rookie game in Beal and Parsons," Donovan said.

Chandler Parsons is averaging 14.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.1 steals for the Houston Rockets during his second season in the NBA. Brad Beal is averaging 13.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.0 steals per game for the Washington Wizards during his rookie year.
