Yeguete undergoes knee surgery

Florida forward Will Yeguete missed six games during Southeastern Conference play last season with a knee injury, and he had another surgery on Wednesday morning to clean up the same knee. The initial timetable for recovery is four months, which would put him back in time to start practice with the Gators.

The surgery was performed at UF Health Shands Hospital on Wednesday. The surgery was called an arthroscopic debridement.

Will Yeguete came out of Florida's game at Arkansas on February 5 after playing just one minute. The Gators made a decision for him to undergo surgery that was expected to keep him out for the remainder of the regular season. Instead, Yeguete returned against Alabama on March 2 and played the final three regular season games.

Yeguete played in 31 games last season and started 10 of them. He averaged 5.5 points and 5.8 rebounds, the second most on the team.

With the graduation of Erik Murphy after last season, Yeguete could be in line to start at power forward. The Gators also bring five-star Chris Walker to campus at the power forward position.
