Monster LB Jackson talks UF camp

Jackson

He was one of the easiest guys on the field to pick out if you knew what you were looking for with a camp of over 200 prospects and just numbers on their jerseys. North Marion class of 2015 linebacker De'Amontae Jackson comes in at 6-1, and 250 pounds… and the kid can fly.

De'Amontae Jackson brings a ton of punch to the party and he brings it fast. The admitted Florida State fan says he is a fan of the recently drafted Jon Bostic from Florida, another big and fast linebacker and it appears he plays the same type of game.

On Saturday, Jackson was at Florida at the Will Muschamp camp and the head football coach and other staffers liked what they saw.

"I did pretty good," he said. It was great competition and I only let one guy get by me out of 15. They said they loved me.

With offers from in-state rivals Florida State and Miami already Jackson caught the eye of Muschamp who took a few minutes to talk to him on the sidelines according to Jackson, "he said I did a great job."

Jackson says he ran a 4.5 second 40 in Miami the week before and the Florida coaches, "said I was one of the few doing all the drills right and they liked my performance and the way I competed. I am a lockdown and my speed is a real strength."

The Gators are holding off for now, but Jackson feels the offer will be coming.

"They are showing interest, they really like me and my performances," he said. "It should come, I believe it will come.

He had a great time at Miami. It appears the camp visit surprised him a bit.

"It was fun," he said of his trip to Coral Gables. "I competed with a lot of players, a few nationally ranked players. The scenery is beautiful there. The coaches said that they know I love to compete."

This weekend he is heading to Tallahassee to do his thing at Florida State.

"I am going to camp on Saturday," he said. "They love me. They saw some of my highlights and the way I practice and my effort. They just love my size, speed, and agility. They love me and offered me."

He really likes the SEC brand of football so named off a quartet of schools that interest him.

In the SEC I like Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Alabama," he said. I have never been to Georgia, but I just like them a lot. I met with Coach Steve Spurrier Jr. (South Carolina). He came to my school to check me out over the spring. He told me I am a top prospect and they are checking me out. I haven't talked to anyone at Alabama or anything, but I will probably attend a camp at Alabama when I can."

He plans to camp at all of the schools listed and knows what he is looking for when he does visit.

"I am checking out the coaching staffs that I know so far and checking out the visits," he said. "I want to see the campus and people on campus and how they communicate with each other. I am looking a little bit.
