Michael Barnett made the move to defensive end from offensive tackle last season and schools have taken notice.
He has those long arms you like at offensive tackle, but he can use his length, speed, and athleticism while pursuing the quarterback on the next level.
"Florida State offered me Friday (June 14) and then Florida offered me on Saturday (June 15)," Barnett told Scout. "I visited both schools and I got the offers when I was there. It felt good that two of the top programs in the country recognized me and offered me."
Barnett liked what he saw in Tallahassee and Gainesville.
"I got to see the campus at FSU and that was nice. I got to spend a good bit of time with the coaches too and I really like Coach [Jimbo] Fisher and Coach [Jay] Graham. They talked to me about my position, where I could play for them, and things like that.
"Florida's facilities really stood out to me. I liked the weight room a lot, but the facilities as a whole really were very nice. I didn't get to see the entire campus while I was there, but what I saw, I liked. I got to sit down with Coach [Will] Muschamp and that was cool. He offered me, we talked about Florida, and it was nice."
Both schools had things that he liked and the 6-foot-5, 245 pound junior defensive end out of Dorchester (S.C.) Woodlawn has interest in each school now.
"I really lie both schools, but I do not like one more than the other right now," he said. "I am really open to every and all schools are equal to me. I have five offers, so I just want to take my time, and explore my different options."
He will explore two schools in July. One has offered and one may when he gets on their campus.
"I am going to Auburn first on July 13-14 and then I am going to Virginia Tech (Offered) on July 18-19. This will be my second visit up to Virginia Tech. I like it up there. I think I have a good chance at getting an offer from Auburn, so that is exciting too."
