The original timetable was two weeks before Jeff Driskel
would be able to get back on the practice field. His return on Thursday was five days before that timetable.
Florida running back Mack Brown indicated Thursday afternoon that Driskel was close making his return.
"It's very important because first game is in a couple weeks, so we need our starting quarterback and everybody to get familiar with one another," Brown said. "The offense runs through Jeff, so it's good to have him back."
Driskel started 12 games last season, throwing for 1,646 yards, 12 touchdowns and five interceptions. He completed 63.7 percent of his passes and was second on the team with 413 rushing yards and four touchdowns.
The Gators received positive news on Thursday when quarterback Jeff Driskel was cleared to return to practice after undergoing an appendectomy on July 30. The junior quarterback has been present at each practice so far but hasn't been able to get on the field until Thursday night.
