Posted Aug 17, 2013

The Associated Press Poll was released on Saturday morning, and Florida will start the season at No. 10. That spot was the third in the SEC East and the fifth SEC team to be ranked in the top ten of the poll.

This is the 10th year in a raw that the Gators will open the season ranked in the AP Poll. That streak is the third longest in the SEC behind LSU (13 straight) and Georgia (11 straight). It’s also the sixth longest streak in the country.

Florida will face four teams ranked in the preseason top 12. The Gators face No. 5 Georgia, No. 6 South Carolina, No. 11 Florida State and No. 12 LSU.

The SEC has six teams ranked in the poll, followed by the Big Ten and Pac-12 with five teams.

Alabama came in at No. 1 in the preseason poll, receiving 58 of the 60 total first-place votes. No. 2 Ohio State and No. 5 Georgia received one first-place vote each.
