Gators start at 10 in AP Poll

Florida has multiple banged up and suspended players heading into his exhibition opener against Florida Southern, but the Gators will start the year at No. 10 in the AP Poll.

After going through the laundry list of players that are injured or suspended for Florida on Friday night, Billy Donovan was asked what he thought about the ranking.

"I have no idea," Donovan said with a laugh. "I would say were not even remotely close to being 10 in the country right now."

The Gators will start the year at No. 8 in the Coaches Poll that was released on October 17.

The schedule for Florida is loaded with teams in the top 25. The only conference opponent is Kentucky, who will start the year at No. 1 in both polls. The Gators have a road test at No. 20 Wisconsin during the second game of the year. Florida will host No. 5 Kansas in December while facing No. 13 Memphis in a neutral site game and traveling to face No. 18 Connecticut.

Florida hosts Florida Southern in its only exhibition game on Friday night before opening the season against North Florida on November 8. Recommended Stories
