Tyler Moore is a sophomore transfer from Nebraska that started the first seven games at right tackle and was moved to left tackle last week due to other injuries. Moore struggled at times, but seemed to play better last week as the Gators adjusted their offense a little.
Florida head coach Will Muschamp confirmed via the SEC teleconference that Moore sustained a "compound fracture of the elbow" and he will miss the rest of the season.
For Florida, it is the third offensive tackle out for this game. Chaz Green was supposed to start the season at right tackle and a labrum injury has forced him to miss the entire season. Starting left tackle D.J. Humphries injured his MCL against Missouri and will miss a few games including Saturday. Now, Moore has a scooter accident and is out for the year.
There is no word yet on how the Gators will manage the offensive line on short notice with the injury happening after practice on Tuesday, but starting left guard Max Garcia has taken quite a few snaps at left tackle already this season and he is someone they have planned to use in case of emergency at that spot all year.
That leaves backups junior Ian Silberman, senior Kyle Koehne, and sophomore Trip Thurman to fill in up front and Koehne could play guard or tackle, while Silberman and Thurman are likely guards at this point.
****Note: Muschamp said in the teleconference that Garcia would indeed slide to right guard and that Kyle Koehne may start with a battle from Ian Silberman at guard. Jonotthan Harrison will remain at center, Jon Halapio at right guard , and Trenton brown at right tackle.
They could also elect to burn the redshirt of freshman Octavius Jackson who has been the only true freshman they have talked about playing along the offensive line this year for various reasons including injury. Jackson would play tackle.
The three missing tackles just compounds all of the injuries on this team that make it the most injury riddled season in memory for this writer.
Starting quarterback Jeff Driskel is out for the year from a week three broken leg. Starting running back Matt Jones tore his ACL in the first series of the LSU game. Starting kick returner and best deep threat at receiver Andre Debose has missed the entire year to a preseason ACL tear.
Florida's best player on the defensive side of the ball in Dominique Easley tore his ACL leading up to the LSU game and he is out for the entire year. Freshman linebacker Matt Rolin tore his ACL in preseason drills and is also out for the year.
There are other various players that have missed or are missing multiple games with injury as well. It is truly as strange as I have ever seen it on the injury front.
