Morrison out for the year

The injury bug continues to hurt Florida. The Gators lost sophomore linebacker Antonio Morrison to a torn meniscus against Vanderbilt that will sideline him for the remainder of the season.

Florida head coach Will Muschamp announced the injury on Monday morning.

The injury occurred early in the game but Antonio Morrison stayed in the game and played through it. He ended the game with a team-high 10 tackles.

Without the sophomore linebacker, Michael Taylor will move over to play MIKE linebacker. Freshman Jarrad Davis will become the new starting WILL linebacker.

"Jarrad Davis has been a guy that we've been very pleased with. He's a young guy that we've been very pleased with. He's a young player that's going to be a really good player here. He's played outstanding on special teams, and when he's had his opportunities at linebacker, he's played well."

Muschamp said fellow freshman Alex Anzalone could also see increased reps. He saw time on the defense against Georgia and should see more time on the field during the final three games of the regular season.

"(He's) a young player that's coming along that we're excited about," Muschamp said.

Despite sitting out the first game of the season with a suspension, Morrison leads the team with 56 tackles.

He is the seventh Florida starter to be out for the season, joining Andre Debose, Jeff Driskel, Dominique Easley, Chaz Green, Matt Jones and Tyler Moore.
