The offense was decimated with injuries this season, including season-ending injuries in the first half of the season to quarterback Jeff Driskel and running back Matt Jones. As the season continued, more injuries bit Florida at positions it could not afford them to happen.
"I am grateful for the opportunity to come to the University of Florida and work with a bunch of great coaches, administrative staff and players," said Brent Pease." I know we came up short of our ultimate goal, but I will carry on knowing I gained valuable friendships and relationships during my time here."
The offensive line lost right tackle Chaz Green before the season started. His replacement, right tackle Tyler Moore, was also lost for the season after the Georgia game. D.J. Humphries missed the second half of the season with a knee issue. The injuries caused moving parts without any consistency as the season came to a close. Max Garcia and Jonotthan Harrison were the only two offensive linemen to start every game.
However, even before the injury bug bit, the Florida offensive line didn't show improvement from last season. The Gators allowed 56 sacks in the last two seasons.
"I have a lot of respect for Coach Pease and Coach Davis," said Will Muschamp. "They are both good football coaches and even better people. There have been a lot of unfortunate circumstances this year, but that is part of the game sometimes. I want to thank each of them for their contributions to the program both on and off the field."
Muschamp will hire now his third offensive coordinator and third offensive line coach.
