Report: Roper is new OC for Florida
Roper Insider
Posted Dec 24, 2013

According to various reports including CBS Sports, the Florida Gators have hired Duke offensive coordinator Kurt Roper to be the next offensive coordinator. We are still waiting on official word yet from the University on the replacement for Brent Pease, who was released and subsequently signed on with Washington as a receivers coach.

Roper was a finalist for the frank Broyles award given to the best assistant coach in the country and helped Duke to the ACC Championship game this season. His quarterbacks at Duke combined for over 3,000 yards passing in 13 games and over 500 yards rushing.

Known as a technician for quarterbacks , Florida head coach Will Muschamp would be bringing in Roper to turn an offense based on a power running game into a more open and spread offense.

Project number one will be junior quarterback Jeff Driskel who came to Florida as a 5-star prospect and has shown all the tools to be a big time player, but has yet to produce consistently.

We will have more on the story as soon as we can get it, stay tuned.

Here is the Broyles Award speech Roper gave earlier in the month.
