"The season went real great," he told Scout.com at the Under Armour combine last week. "My whole off-season that I put in showed up. I put my heart into it and tried to play well. I had 28 touchdowns, 2,316 yards, and 192 receiving yards. I tried to double my stats from my sophomore year."
McCloud says the college coaches actually talk about different aspects he brings to the table.
"My elusiveness, quickness, and my vision are my strengths," he says. "They like my vision and how I run smooth, stuff like that."
He is wide open in the process right now but says a hand full of schools seemed to have made more effort in keeping in touch with him. Out of 21 offers, Clemson, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and Florida are on him the hardest.
"Coach Elliot is the running back coach," he said of Clemson. "I know him very well and have built a strong relationship. They have a strong coaching staff and put God first in everything they do."
"They are recruiting me very hard," he added of Kentucky. "They want me and are putting the effort in me. The staff is great and the whole team is great. They are consistent."
"I just got offered by them a week or two ago," he said of Vandy coach James Franklin and the Commodores. "I am building a strong relationship with them."
The Gators are coming off of their worst season in 34 years. McCloud paid attention and believes they still headed in the right direction.
"Their season doesn't affect me and what I think about them," he said. "Everyone has their ups and downs. Teams rebuild and I would like to be a part of that. They had 15 starters get hurt, you won't see that again. Coach White and Coach T-Rob are recruiting me. They are great people."
Florida also is planning on a big change in offense. That will start with a new offensive coordinator in Kurt Roper who came over from Duke. This has McCloud even more interested.
"I know they will run the spread," he said. "I like the spread, a consistent offense that will be balanced and spreads the ball again."
School is big for McCloud who mentions what he will be basing his decision off of.
"I am looking at academics and a consistent coaching staff," he said.
