New-k Tillman is a quick twitch athlete that will be making plays for the Rat Pack, an Orlando area 7on7 squad coached by Gator Great Keiwan Ratliff. The 5-foot-11, 170 pounder will get tested and should hold his own this spring.
“I like coming out here because of the good competition,” Tillman said following practice last week. “It makes me get better and I learn more.”
Tillman doesn’t have any offers yet, but he believes the first one is coming and more coming soon after that.”
“I think the first offer will be Bethune-Cookman College,” he said adding that Louisville, UCF, and Miami have shown some interest.
Tillman is effortless on the field and says the game is more than just a contest.
“I just like to have fun playing the game,” he said. “I take stuff serious now when I have to, but I just like to have fun and be energized. “
Tillman camped at Florida last year and had a chance to review his film with the Florida staff where they told him he needed to play more than just quarterback to get noticed by the big programs.
“I am a cornerback and receiver,” he said. “I would say quickness and speed are my strengths. The college coaches like my speed and agility.
“At Florida they liked my film, but they said I needed to play something other than quarterback, play receiver and cornerback. I played defense in the last three games of the season.”
After the offers come and he is ready to make decision, Tillman says one thing will be the reason he chooses one program over the others.
“I want to be able to play right away,” he said.
