Humphries named to Outland Trophy watch list

Florida offensive tackle D.J. Humphries was named to the Outland Trophy watch list on Thursday morning.

The Outland Trophy’s website says it is given to the top interior lineman in college football. All linemen are eligible for the award except defensive ends. Of the 64 players on the watch list, 19 are from the Southeastern Conference.

D.J. Humphries started the first six games of the 2013 season at left tackle before suffering a season-ending knee injury. As a freshman in 2012, Humphries played in 12 games for Florida while starting three. He was selected to the SEC All-Freshman Team and named a Sports News Freshman All-American in 2012.

This season, Humphries projects as the starting left tackle for an experienced offensive line. The former five-star recruit had a strong spring but has to stay healthy this season. Recommended Stories
