Kelvin Taylor saw action in 10 games as a freshman last season, starting four games. He finished the season second on the team with 508 rushing yards, averaging 4.6 yards per carry. He led the Gators in rushing during five of the final six games of his freshman season.
Taylor was named to the Freshman All-SEC team and named an All-Freshman Honorable Mention by College Football News.
Heading into his sophomore year at Florida, Taylor looks to be preparing to become the team’s leading rusher. He spent the spring working with the first team ahead of Mack Brown and Adam Lane. The Gators will use an assortment of running backs this fall, but Taylor should lead the team in carries. With Matt Jones expected to get snaps at the B-position, Taylor will play an important part in the 2014 offense.
Pass protection issues kept Taylor off the field during the early part of the 2013 season, but once those were corrected, the natural talent was too much to keep off the field.
