“I always enjoy coming to Friday Night Lights,” Quarterman said. “It is the home of the Florida boys and the best competition.”
He has been to Florida a few times and so he didn’t really learn anything new, but did like the atmosphere.
“It is always great to come out here and compete,” Quarterman said. “That is what Florida is known for to me. The stature of competition here is always great. I went to the Auburn camp and the Georgia camp, but can honestly say it is more of a test working out here than in Alabama or Georgia.”
Florida defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin is someone that Quarterman respects in the recruiting world.
“It is always good to see Coach Durkin again,” he said. “He and I talk often and he is a great guy to talk to and learn from.”
Quarterman attended camp in Auburn recently and also knows that staff well.
“It was a fantastic visit,” he said. “It is always great to see Coach Malzahn, and Coach Gardner. Auburn is very consistent, but other than that they are great group of people to talk to. I know away from the field and shoulder pads they will always have my back.”
He remains a Miami commitment and that doesn’t look to change any time soon.
“They offered everything I wanted, including the major I wanted,” he said of the Hurricanes. “They are one of the best (in that major). I have been a die-hard Cane fan since I was wee high. It made it a little easier (to commit early).”
He will however look around and make sure of his decision. Florida is a team he will certainly watch.“Everything is great at Miami,” Quarterman said. “I am just going to take it step by step. Time will tell. I am looking at the season and the type of linebackers they are recruiting so I know where I stand.”
Miami, Auburn, and Florida are the teams that Quarterman plans on remaining tight with as the process continues.“I plan to see a game here (Florida) and Auburn,” he said. “I plan on taking advantage of the process.”
