Florida backup quarterback Ingle Martin will transfer to a Division I-AA school, and he will not dress for the Gators' bowl game....

Florida quarterback Ingle Martin has been granted permission to transfer away from the Gators, and he does not expect to participate in bowl-game preparations, his father Harry said Monday.

Martin, who started the season’s first four games before being replaced by true freshman Chris Leak, will instead spend the month choosing from a batch of potential Division I-AA schools. This list includes Furman, Richmond, Penn, Samford and Yale.

“He plans on enrolling in the spring,” Harry Martin said, “so he’ll need some time to travel to the different schools.”

The redshirt sophomore was benched by coaches following the Gators’ loss to Tennessee on Sept. 20. Leak has started every game since.

Martin, who spent last season as the expected heir to former Gator Rex Grossman, ended his career at Florida with 54 passing completions on 86 attempts for 750 yards and three touchdowns.
