Donovan Baldwin of Plantation (FL) American Heritage,
a Georgia commitment, is ranked the number 44
defensive back in the nation by Scout.com. At 6-1, 175
pounds, Baldwin has only visited Athens and committed
to the Bulldogs on his visit. His good friend Jeff
Owens of Plantation High, is visiting Gainesville this
Friday and Tuesday night, he got a call from the Gator
coaching staff.
"Coach [Doc] Holliday called me earlier today but I
didn't get a chance to talk to him and he left me a
message," Baldwin said. "Florida just got into the mix
with me so I don't know."
Owens, also a Georgia commitment, is making the trip
this weekend but the situation isn't so clear with the
Plantation defensive back who has been timed in the
40-yard dash in 4.49 seconds.
"I know Jeff is visiting but I don't know if I am
going to visit Florida," Baldwin said. "If I do it
won't be this weekend, maybe the 28th."
While Florida is making an effort to get Donovan
Baldwin to Gainesville, it may be a little bit late to
turn him away from Georgia.
"I'm still committed to Georgia and it is likely I
will sign with them on Signing Day," Baldwin said.
"We'll see about Florida."
