RECRUITING: Dustin Doe Commits to Gators

The University of Florida received its fourth verbal commitment this week from Live Oak Suwannee linebacker Dustin Doe. Doe, who recently transferred from Hamilton County high school committed to Coach Meyer on Wednesday.

Fortunately, we managed to get ahold of Dustin and had the opportunity to speak with him briefly.

On why he commited to Florida, he elaborated: "The University of Florida was real family oriented and Coach Urban Meyer and the rest of the coaching staff really preached developing people and the person more so than the athlete. I really admired that. He preached academics. I talked to the other players and they said he was real big on academics."

Doe's commitment to the Gators comes fresh off of his weekend visit to the Urban Meyer Football camp one week ago and he came away quite impressed.

"There were a few guys there that I had heard of. Jaques Rickerson was there. Jevan (Snead) was there. They all were impressed with the family oriented style of coaching that the coaches at the University of Florida have," said Dustin.

Doe is a full academic qualifier after scoring a 21 on the ACT, also plays basketball and runs track (high jump, triple jump, and 4x1 relay). His ability on the gridiron had college coaches very interested, including Meyer and Co..

As was mentioned, Dustin Doe has transferred to Live Oak Suwannee for the fall and while he did not have his stats from last season readily available, he is sending Gator Country his highlight film so everyone can see him in action. Doe, at 6-1/2 206 pounds, runs he forty in 4.55 seconds and certainly aims to make a big impact for Coach Meyer. Dustin was also considering FSU and Georgia.

Congratulations to Dustin and good luck this season. We'll have a more in-depth followup shortly.
