His top choices are Auburn, Florida and South Carolina (in no particular order). He will be taking his first official visit this weekend to the Iron Bowl in Auburn for the annual Alabama-Auburn backyard brawl.
He's planning his second visit the first week of January to South Carolina and then after that, he'll visit Florida.
"I will be going to South Carolina for their bowl game," he said. "Florida will probably be my third visit. I want to take all of my official visits. I will then compare and contrast each visit."
With so many schools in the recruiting process, Isom has had a chance to compare what each school wants and brings to the table.
"Auburn and South Carolina have been recruiting me the hardest," he said. "Michigan State, Florida, and Illinois are teams that are pushing for my talent. Ohio State, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt are recruiting me but not as hard as the other schools. There are a lot of schools looking at me now because of the season I had.
"I scored two touchdowns this year off fumble recoveries. I had 13 sacks and 89 tackles to finish the season. The last game of the season was the best game I have ever played. I had 12 tackles, 2 sacks, and I scored my second touchdown of the season."
That great season translates into post season awards that are starting to pour in. He's already made the All-County, All-Regional, and All-State Teams.
Isom watched the Florida-South Carolina game this past Saturday with added interest since both schools are at the top of his recruiting list. He's formed a strong relationship with South Carolina defensive coordinator, Tyrone Nix.
"I thought it was a big win for South Carolina," he said. "I thought it was a real stepping stone for the program and it could bring in a lot of big name recruits. Coach Nix and I were talking after the game. He was saying he believes I could come in and make an impact right away."
He was in Gainesville the week before for the Florida-Vanderbilt game at The Swamp. The Gators will get the final official visit and will have the chance to make the lasting impression for this three-star rated (by Scout.com) defensive lineman.
