After Tuesday's practice, Coach Urban Meyer said the injury to Nelson happened "in pass skel, a non-contact drill and two guys ran together and he hit his knee."
With MCL injuries, there are three degrees of seriousness. A third or second degree injury would definitely put Nelson out for the game. How serious this injury is will have to be determined in the next several days.
"It's going to be tough to get him ready for that game but he's not ruled out yet," said Meyer. "But it's going to be tough."
At this point, all indications are that Reggie Nelson will not be in the bowl game and will return for spring practice.
Kyle Jackson and Tony Joiner will have to step it up in practice and one will likely take Nelson's spot in the starting lineup for the Outback Bowl.
Stay tuned for a full practice report later today.
