You would never know it when he's got his game face on, but Brandon Antwine is one of the happiest, sweet natured kids you would ever want to meet. On a football field, the four-star rated (by defensive tackle is as mean and nasty as it gets. Off the field, the Florida commitment is always positive, always happy, a complete joy to talk to.

After a football season of knocking opponents into next week, Antwine spent the holidays spreading Christmas cheer. The 6-1, 271-pounder needed a break from football, classes and working out and it was good for him that it came at Christmas, one of his favorite times of the year. He also wanted to send some post holiday greetings to the Gator fans.

"I had a real good holiday," he said. "I saw lots of family and a nephew I haven't seen in a while. I am glad to get away from school and stop thinking about it a lot. I hope all the Gator fans had a very Merry Christmas."

His Garland coach is trying to get him into a local all-star game but currently his post season docket is empty. Even though he's firmly committed to Florida, some schools haven't taken the hint.

"The only coach from another school that is calling me right now is Coach (Trooper) Taylor from Tennessee," he said. "They say that signing day hasn't come yet and they are going to keep trying because I am a good player."

Florida co-defensive coordinator Greg Mattison (defensive line coach), offensive coordinator Dan Mullen (recruits Texas) and head coach Urban Meyer stay in regular contact with Antwine. Coach Mattison is really building a strong relationship with one of his newest pupils.

"Coach Mattison is like a dad to me," Antwine said. "He knows a bunch of stuff. He keeps me focused and on top of my game and tells me where I need to be for when I get up there."

Antwine is looking to add immediate depth to Florida's defensive line along with incoming recruits Corey Hobbs (Oviedo, FL) and Terron Sanders (Bradenton, FL). The coaches are already doing their part to make certain he will have a chance to have an early impact and once he's faxed in his papers on signing day, they will be sending workout and diet regimens.

"They will send me some work out stuff after I sign the LOI," he said. "I know what they expect. I have been playing football for awhile now so I am just going in there and giving it my all."

He wants Gator fans to be ready. He plans on making a huge impression from the get go and Brandon Antwine is not used to letting people down.

"Gator fans can expect the best," he said. "That's all they need to look for from me. I plan on being the best football player to run through Florida."

It is the combination of ability, hard work and personality that will make Antwine a fan favorite for Gator Nation. Florida fans will love the way he gets after people when he's on the field and they will also love the easy going, cordial personality he shows when he's not playing football.
