SAN ANTONIO --- During mat drills at 5 a.m. in the first offseason of Coach Urban Meyer's two years at the University of Utah, Alex Smith was wondering who was crazier --- Meyer or Matt Balis, the barrel-chested strength and conditioning coach who was constantly in his face screaming at the top of his lungs?
