Harris Gives Gators High Marks

Brandon Harris is a big target for every program in the country, and the cornerback from Booker T. Washington in Miami may be the top prospect at his position in the state of Florida. With such a key target, a recent visit to Gainesville turned out very, very well for the Gators.

"I'd give them an A-plus-plus," said an excited Harris as he remembered his visit. "Really, they showed me everything about the school and watching practice they were very competitive in everything they did. I loved every minute of it and got to see a side of the school that I hadn't seen. I really liked where the direction of the program is going."

The direction of any program has to be helped as the term "reining national champions" is attached to their name, but with that come some of the visible perks which Harris got to see on his unofficial visit.

"They let me hold the national championship trophy and I put on the championship ring. There really is no feeling like it."

Coming out of the trip, Harris places the Gators in a place on his short list with no other teams.

"If they are not in top two, then they would definitely be the top three. There aren't any other schools in there yet, but if I had to name some schools, the Gators would be one of them, no doubt."

Listing his favorites as Miami, Florida, West Virginia, Ohio State, USC, LSU, and Tennessee, it is a who's who of national powerhouses. In making his decision, getting to know the coaches on his trip with undoubtedly help the Gators.

"I am asking myself, does this place have the materials I need to get better? Are the coaches going to work to get me better? So I am basically going to make my decision based off the coaching staff and how my relationship is with them. That's what I've been trying to do, and I've tried to build a relationship with each of the coaches and trying to figure out. I wanted to figure out if I choose this school, and I had a problem, is this coach a kind of guy that I can go to and talk to?"

Harris plans to ask that question early and often as his decision will likely come later in the year.

As a junior at wide receiver, Harris made 38 catches for 705 yards and 13 touchdowns. Defensively, Harris made 42 tackles, four sacks, six interceptions with two interceptions returned for a touchdown, and added three kickoff returns for touchdowns.
