Big tackle talks recruiting

The state of Tennessee takes its high school football very serious, none more so than that of Nashville (Tenn.) Montgomery Bell Academy. The anchor on the offensive line is 6-5, 320-pound offensive tackle Preston Bailey. With spring practice not starting until May 25, Bailey has used his time wisely.
“At my school, football is a pretty big deal. We lift all year long and I do a bunch of extra lifting whenever I can, during my lunch breaks and on the weekends.”
Bailey also throws the discus and shot put. Due to his hectic schedule, he has not had the time to take many unofficial visits but that could all change very soon.
“Once I am done with track I will sit down with my parents and we will set up a visit list for the summer."
Some of the schools that he is interested in are
. He has offers from Clemson, South Carolina,
, Miami and Middle Tennessee State.
“I just spoke with Coach Hevesy last Monday. I should be receiving my Florida offer in the mail over the next couple of weeks. Coach Hevesy told me he wants to talk to my coach a little more and check my grades and get to know me as a person.”
Bailey has had time to do some research on head coach
“I have learned through my own personal research that Coach Meyer is a high character guy. He not only cares about your athletic ability but he cares about you off the field as well. Grades, personal life and every aspect of your life off the field are important to him.”
Bailey will decide on where to attend college based on three very important factors: academics, coaching relationships and whether or not he can visualize himself at a particular school without football. He has started at left tackle since the first game of his sophomore season and no one has registered a sack against him in the last 20-plus games. Bailey carries a 3.55 GPA and scored a 1680 on the SAT.
