Jerrell Harris currently holds 28 offers and is focusing on all of them. USC, Florida, Michigan, Tennessee, South Carolina, Alabama, Auburn, UCLA and Clemson are the ones that are catching his eye.
Harris has been to three junior days so far: Clemson, Alabama and Auburn.
“All three of them were equal and all went well," he said. "No one really stood out above the rest.”
Coach Charlie Strong is recruiting Harris to the University of Florida.
“What tells me a lot is how young the current linebackers are," Harris said. "It tells me that I can come in and have a chance to compete for a starting job. Early playing time is something that I am looking for, but at the same time, I do not mind learning for one year and become a starter the following year. I haven’t been to Florida yet. I am planning on going sometime over the summer and checking out what they have to offer.”
Harris has high expectations of the Gators.
“I want to soak up as much as I can and learn as much as possible," he said. "I have talked to Coach Meyer a few times and I like him a lot. He acts very interested in me and wants me to be a part of something special with that program.”
Harris has great athleticism, instincts and vision. He spoke about what he feels are the strengths of his game.
“My versatility, aggressiveness and pass covering skills are my strengths," he said. "I love to cover people out of the backfield. The thing that I need to work on the most is getting off blocks and using my hands more.”
Harris is looking to take an official visit to Gainesville when Florida State comes to town. He will also be on hand for Friday Night Lights in late July.
