The Gator basketball team will return to the O’Dome tonight for another evening of exercise this time against FAMU. The “game” will serve as another opportunity for Florida to try and bring along their four-man freshman class for the tougher competition that’s head.

FAMU comes to Gainesville with a 1-5 record and a history of never having beaten the Gators in nine previous matchups. In fact, Florida is 17-0 all-time against teams from the MEAC. The Gators enter the game with a 5-1 mark and are ranked No. 21 in the nation.

It’ll be interesting to see if diminutive guard Erving Walker can build on his success in Orlando against UMKC. Walker almost picked up a double-double off the bench with 13 points and 9 assists in Florida’s 86-65 win over the Kangaroos. The Gators also have to hope that Chandler Parsons turned a corner last time out. The sophomore forward scored 17, including a perfect 3-for-3 night from long range. He had made just one of 13 three-point shots in the first five games of the season.

One area that needs to show improvement still is the Gators’ work on the boards. Florida only out-rebounded a much smaller UMKC team by four on Sunday (35-31) and for the year have just two more caroms than their opponents. This is a night where the Gators should dominate the glass.
