Last season it was Janoris Jenkins who impressed from day one of his freshman season and went on to…
Jenkins and Brown Could Have Quick Impact
"I just want to get better," Jenkins said. "I don't really have any expectations I just know I need to work hard."
The Gators are pretty loaded at linebacker, but Urban Meyer has often mentioned Jenkins name during the offseason as a player that he really believes to be a special talent. A man of few words, Jenkins said the only thing that has caught him a little off guard since he signed with Florida is getting a grasp of what Florida runs on defense.
"I know the playbook is pretty difficult," he said.
Short and sweet, Jenkins wants Gator fans to understand what they are getting when he shows up to wear Orange and Blue.
"A leader," he said emphatically.
Jenkins will be rooming with freshman receiver Andre Debose, defensive back Josh Evans, and quarterback Jordan Reed.
Gary Brown is in about the same position as Jenkins when it comes to Florida. Both starters are back in the middle of the defensive line, and there is some capable talent behind the starters. Still,.Brown's talent cannot be denied and the Under Armour All-American will have a chance to play early with all of his skill.
Like Jenkins, Brown understands nothing will be handed to him and he knows he needs to show up with a great work ethic.
"I am not expecting much, I am just really ready to get started," Brown said. "I just want to get on the field and go against the Pounceys."
As far as getting used to school and the program, Brown doesn't anticipate anything that will keep him from being his best. He wants to jump in fast and get things started in his college career.
"I have no worries with school at all...I am ready for that," Brown said. "I plan on being on the field in the first game I know I have to get down there and start working hard for that to work out."
Brown doesn't know who he will be rooming with just yet. That will be known on Tuesday.
