Darius Millines has been one of the most talked about prospects with the close of the camp season.…
Millines Still Favors Gators
"We are lifting and doing squats with the bands on, stuff like that," he said. "I am working on the power clean and a lot of other stuff. I also learned a few things at a D-1 camp. We had some drills learning how to fire off the ball."
Just two months ago, Millines was a relatively unheard of prospect. Since then, the scholarship offers have been rolling in. He doesn't know exactly why, but when coaches came by his school to watch practice, they quickly liked what they saw. Regardless, he has the two offers he cherishes the most.
"I think coaches came by and I guess they just passed the word on," Millines said. "I am standing at 16 offers. Tennessee was the last one. I never did make the trip up there. I was waiting on Miami and Florida, but I got both of them. Not really waiting on any others."
Millines is a self professed Hurricane fan. Miami was his team as he grow up watching college football. However, he says that it will have little bearing on where he end up in college.
"I liked Miami growing up," he said. "I went down there last year to a scrimmage. It's not about my childhood favorite anymore, it's what is best for me."
The National Champs have made a very favorable impression on Millines. He loves Florida's spread offense and sees himself fitting in very well in that style of play. It is enough for the Gators to be the front-runner to land Millines in the end.
"Florida is at the top right now," he said. "I don't have a top group, but Florida is on top. When I was there I just had that vibe. I also love how they run the offense. I like how they used Percy Harvin, running in the backfield and getting the ball like that."
Millines is starting to prepare himself for when a decision needs to be made. His list of priorities start with his academics and getting on the field.
"I don't know when I will make my decision, but the graduation rate is very important to me," he said. "I also want teams that use their receivers. So, the graduation rate and playing time are big things right now."
