Meyer: Moore Sidelined for a While
Urban Meyer has his team ready for the season

Florida wide receiver Carl Moore has been out of practice with an injured back, and it doesn’t look like it is getting any better. Even after having a procedure on it that was supposed to help the problem, he still hasn’t been able to participate in practice. Overall, the rest of the team is healed up and ready to go.
Florida
Head Coach
Urban Meyer
said
Carl Moore
doesn’t have a ruptured disk as rumored, but the injury is potentially season-ending. While it may be bad enough to miss the season, he should be able to play next year.
“He had a procedure done, and it’s a little more serious than
Jeremy Brown
’s. It’s not career-threatening, it just takes time,” Meyer said.
Moore was expected to help provide depth at receiver — a position the Gators lack experience.
The senior would be eligible for a redshirt if he can not play this year.
..................................................................................................
-Freshman LB
Jelani Jenkins
was upgraded from doubtful to probable against Charleston Southern. He should definitely see time on special teams.
-
Brendan Beal
had a neck brace on leaving practice today. Meyer said he is doubtful for Saturday.
-LB
Brandon Hicks
has had two good days of practice in a row and will be ready to go Saturday, Meyer said.
-
Steve Addazio
will not announce the starting offensive line until game time. Meyer said Addazio says he has six starters with Maurkice and Mike Pouncey,
Marcus Gilbert
,
Carl Johnson
,
Matt Patchan
and
James Wilson
.
-Meyer praised newly-named captain
Brandon James
for his maturity. “I’ve always liked Brandon James. I always have. I didn’t like some of his behavior, but you don’t give up on guys,” Meyer said. “He’s not a guy to give up on, and he has really grown up. He's going to have a degree from Florida, he's a captain, and he's going to have a nice career.”
-
Joe Haden
and either
Janoris Jenkins
or
Markihe Anderson
will start as the cornerbacks. Meyer still has not announced if he will punish Jenkins for his arrest in late May.
-Besides winning, Meyer wants to see his offense execute at a high level of play Saturday.
-Even if WR
Andre Debose
feels healthy enough to run, he will not play Saturday. “Not with a hamstring. I asked that question, ‘Can we still play him?’ because I want to see this guy play.” Meyer said. “He could risk further damage to it. I did talk to coach (Bob) Stoops about
DeMarco Murray
, and that was a different injury, but it took some time to heal. It’s similar, but a little different.”
