By the time it is all said and done the 2011 running back crop in Texas will likely be remembered as…
Kenny Williams Gaining Interest
When he first started playing football he was a quarterback but now plays the running back position full-time. His favorite team growing up was Texas Tech and Texas and his favorite running backs are none other than Bo Jackson and Earl Campbell.
Williams has no connections to the University of Florida but does admit the possibility of the Gators interest is exciting.
"I am very adaptive and believe in building family relationships so I could see a good fit. Right now the Florida coaches have more of a relationship with my high school coach. I just got a message from him telling me that coach Drayton has been wanting to speak with me. To be part of the Gator Nation would in some sense be a dream come true playing for a dominant school and playing in the SEC. My family would be very excited about a transition from Texas to Florida."
Williams talked a little about his game and what makes him dangerous as a running back.
"As a running back I have size and run with power. I have speed and I have always worked on ways to be more explosive. I like to have a sense of the field such as vision and I am more of a one cut down hill runner. I am versatile and I can catch the ball and block. If I had anything to work on I would have to say getting faster. It would be amazing to see a back my size running like a cornerback but as big as a linebacker but that's the mentality I have."
Williams has offers from Kansas State, SMU, Tulsa and Illinois. He is also hearing from Texas Tech, Alabama, Arkansas and UCLA. Williams has no top five at this time and has visited Alabama, Texas A&M and SMU. He will visit UCLA on February 25 and then Kansas State in March and Illinois in April.
Williams plans to visit as many schools as possible that can use a running back like him and then will name his top five based off those visits and then go back and visit his top teams again and see how it all unfolds.
