FNL Player Preview: Jordan Jenkins

Jordan Jenkins

Jordan Jenkins, a 6-3 and 235-pound defensive end from Hamilton (GA) Harris County, has become a hot commodity over the last several months. With performances like he showed at the Rome MVP Camp, he could become the top overall prospect in the state of Georgia for the class of 2012.

Jordan Jenkins measured in at 6-3 and 235-pounds and ran 4.54, 4.54 and 4.53. Jenkins dominated the one-on-one portion of the camp and took home the top underclassman honors. 2012 Prospects are not allowed to receive written offers until September 1 of their junior season but they can have verbal offers and Jenkins has more than his fair share. Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, South Carolina, Tennessee, Central Florida and Vanderbilt have all extended verbal offers at this time.

Jenkins and his father were supposed to visit the University of Florida during the month of June but they had a scheduling conflict. Now the entire Jenkins family including mother, father and sister will accompany the standout defensive end during Friday Night Lights.

Mr. Jenkins talked about the excitement level heading into the first visit to the University of Florida.

"I like the history of Florida football and I have watched Florida football for years. I have always loved it. We are going to look at the academics, facilities and see if it's a good fit for Jordan. We are looking for the academic piece and the ability to get along with the coaching staff. I am excited for him and I know he is going to like it. We have been to Orlando a few times and we all like Florida. My daughter is coming as well and we want to see if she likes Florida because we would like to have both of them at the same school. We are really looking forward to the trip."

Jenkins will be one of the most heavily recruited players in the Southeast for the class of 2012 regardless of position. He finished the 2009 season with more than 70 tackles and 10 sacks.
