It was payback time for RB Mike Blakely
and his No. 19 Manatee team when they crushed No. 2 Tampa Plant 48-10 Friday night. Manatee's Blakely rushed for 148 yards on 15 carries and dominated with four touchdowns (three rushing and one passing) to show his unique athletic ability. After Manatee's lights out performance, they are likely to experience a rise in the polls, but Blakely isn't concerned about rankings...he just wants to get back to the playoffs where a victory over Plant actually counts.
Blakely isn't ruling out any teams that are looking at him, but he does favor Auburn
, and South Carolina
in the recruiting process right now.
Scout.com's Laura McKeeman caught up with Blakely after the game. Here's what he had to say:
Bradenton Manatee running back Mike Blakely made a statement on national television Friday night, outshining an all-American while looking like a very under-rated player, even as highly as he is rated. Blakely talked with Scout.com's Laura McKeeman after the game and talked about the game and his recruitment.
