The Head Ball Coach didn’t have much going for him and his South Carolina team in the passing game. However, the Gamecocks effectively ran the ball on first down, which helped the struggling Carolina offense, while pressuring the Gators defense to cover the entire field on the following downs. Spurrier, who was mixing things up on first down before the intermission, adjusted and helped his Gamecocks emerge with a 30-22 victory.
