Practice Report: 12/20

While several injured Alabama players were not on the practice field--likely in the training room--Jeremy Pruitt, who was named Florida State's new defensive coordinator today, continued to coach the defensive backs.

Due to gusty winds, Alabama practiced indoors at the Hank Crisp Facility Thursday afternoon. The media was granted about 10 minutes to watch, so here are some observations.

--Safety Jarrick Williams continued to wear the black non-contact jersey he's been sporting all week. Williams, who tore his ACL in August, did not appear limited. Earlier this week, head coach Nick Saban said that it is too early to determine if he will play in the national championship game, but did not rule it out.

All the other injured players that have been wearing black jerseys and riding stationary bikes this week—center Barrett Jones (foot), wide receiver Kenny Bell (leg) and running back/H-back Jalston Fowler (knee)—were not on the field. They were probably in the training room, but that's just a hunch.

--Freshman linebacker Denzel Devall, who is rumored to have a knee injury, was not on the practice field, either. I was told his injury, which Saban will address in his post-practice press conference later, is not serious.

--Nose guard Jesse Williams (knee) was practicing, but it was hard to get a good look at him from where the media was standing relative to where his unit was practicing.

--Jeremy Pruitt, who was announced as Florida State's new defensive coordinator today, was coaching the defensive backs. He is expected to coach in the national championship game.

Here is a list of candidates Alabama is considering to replace him.
