Saban: 'I want to be a college coach'

As he sat at a podium on his old turf at Sun Life Stadium, Alabama head coach Nick Saban was badgered some more about a potential return to the NFL. He says it's not happening.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.—Dressed in a light grey suit, a pale pink shirt and a patterned tie, Nick Saban led his team out onto the field at Sun Life Stadium for Alabama's BCS Media Day.

The field was familiar, of course, as it's the place Saban called home when he coached the Miami Dolphins from 2005-06, so it was only appropriate that he be asked questions about whether or not he has a future in the NFL. And just like he has for the past month, Saban batted down all speculation that he's leaving Alabama.

"I don't have any unfinished business in the NFL," he said. "I want to be a college coach. I'm not looking for new challenges."

Saban's reputation is that he's always looking for a new challenge, however. He gets bored and is never satisfied. Before taking the job with the Crimson Tide, he hadn't stayed with a team for longer than five years. He's finishing up his sixth in Tuscaloosa.

"I know myself, I know the best path for me," he said. "We're happy with the path that we're on, so there's really nothing to talk about."
