Ogbueze to transfer

One day after Rutgers transfer guard Eli Carter announced his intentions to continue his college career in Gainesville, Florida guard Braxton Ogbueze announced his intentions to transfer from the program. Ogbueze was used sparingly during his freshman season last year and will transfer to find more playing time at another school.

Ogbueze played in 23 games last year, totaling 107 minutes. He scored 19 points on 7-for-22 shooting from the floor and 1-for-5 from behind the three-point line. Ogbueze totaled 13 rebounds and seven assists while turning the ball over 10 times.

Guard depth wasn't an issue last season, and that cost Ogbueze minutes. Most of his time on the floor came in blowout games when the Gators were trying to run out the clock.

"Braxton has been a hard worker with a great attitude, and we wish him nothing but the best as he moves on," Billy Donovan said.

The Gators lost Kenny Boynton and Mike Rosario to graduation, but five-star point guard Kasey Hill comes to campus as Scottie Wilbekin heads into his senior year. The addition of Eli Carter, who could play point guard if necessary, means the Gators have three players that would likely get on the floor at point guard before Ogbueze.

The former four-star was ranked as the No. 5 point guard in the country coming out of high school in the class of 2012.

"I've appreciated the opportunity here at Florida and have learned a lot that will help me in the future," Braxton Ogbueze said.
