Florida makes NCAA Tournament

The Gators earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament field that was announced on Monday afternoon. Florida was viewed as a bubble team because of its 29-28 record, but the tournament committee rewarded the Gators for their strength of schedule, which finished the season second overall.

Florida will travel to Bloomington, Ind. this weekend to play in the Indiana Regional. The Gators lost two of three games to the Hoosiers in Gainesville during the final series before the start of Southeastern Conference play.

Florida's final record was 29-28, finishing one-game above the mandated .500 record for a berth.

Kevin O'Sullivan became the first Florida coach to lead the program to six straight NCAA Tournaments.

The Gators will open NCAA Tournament play on Friday at 1 p.m. against Austin Peay. Indiana will face Valparaiso that night. Austin Peay currently leads the nation with a 15-game winning streak.

The winner of the Indiana Regional will go on to meet the winner of the Florida State Regional for Super Regionals the following weekend, with a berth in the College World Series on the line. Alabama, Savannah State and Troy will also participate in the Florida State Regional.
