Driskel's focus is on the Gators

Despite a few heartbeats that may have gone missing in the last few days, nothing will seemingly change with Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel and his status, work load, and schedule at the University of Florida for the foreseeable future. Driskel just signed a contract with Major League Baseball's Boston Red Sox, but it is more of a novelty for the time being.

With the world of Sports the way it is, news travels fast, rumors even faster. Florida junior quarterback Jeff Driskel got the old rumor mill going this week when he signed an agreement with the Boston Red Sox. As it turns out, it may a agreement that may never be acted upon.

"Yes I signed with the Red Sox," Driskel posted on his Twitter account on July 4th. "Nothing changes. I am still a full time student athlete at UF, fully committed to playing football. #GoGators"

For clarity's sake, it appears the football program wanted him to further this statement and he responded through their Twitter account.

"I plan on focusing on football and finishing my college career with the Gators," the statement started. "After my college football career is over I want to pursue a professional career in the NFL. If I ever decide I want to play baseball, I want to play with the Boston Red Sox who drafted me in the recent draft."

So anyone that was fretting over this decision to sign and how it would effect this and the following season, can breathe a sigh of relief. And the rumors can be laid to rest.
