Hill named to Tisdale Award Watch List

Florida point guard Kasey Hill was one of 10 players in the country named to the watch list for the Tisdale Award, given to the national freshman of the year.

The Southeastern Conference led the country with five of the 10 freshmen selected to the watch list as Kasey Hill joined four Kentucky freshmen -- Aaron Harrison, Andrew Harrison, Julius Randle and James Young. Seven of the 10 players, including Hill, are guards.

The winner of the award will be announced on April 14, 2014. The award has been given out since the 1988-89 season with previous winners including Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony, Jason Kidd and Chris Webber.

Hill opened his Florida career in Friday's exhibition win over Florida Southern. The freshman point guard scored 17 points and added three assists in 26 minutes on the court.

The Gators open the regular season against North Florida on Friday at 3 p.m. in the O'Connell Center.
